Beauty Therapy NVQ Level 3 General Route

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?

This qualification provides advanced therapy treatments for the face and body. It is a natural progression from level 2 and you would be an extremely well qualified therapist highly sought after in employment. You will acquire an excellent expertise in advanced body and facial therapies. We run the course over a very short time scale and 100% commitment and attendance is required.

The course contains 8 units and as case studies will be required for all of the units you must be prepared to allot reasonable time to developing and practising these new skills. The Academy has a salon and we will book you clients to work on. This will be arranged with your lecturer.

COURSE CONTENT

The following modules will be covered in the course:

 

ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY

Covering all the major systems of the human body: Skeletal, Muscular, Digestive, Urinary, Endocrine, Lymphatic, Nervous, Cardiovascular and Respiratory. You will be set workbooks on each of the systems for home  study.

 

BODY MASSAGE

After studying human anatomy and physiology, the classic deep-tissue Swedish body massage movements will be taught. Working in pairs, you will both give and receive massage to fully appreciate the effects of the different techniques. You will use oil, cream and talc for differing skin types and learn how to adapt your techniques to suit different individuals. Within this unit you will cover the appropriate usage of G5, Audio Sonic and Infra Red mechanical treatments.

 

WORK OPERATIONS

This unit  continues your training in Health and Safety and ensures the correct procedures for carrying out risk assessments within the working environment.

 

BODY ELECTRICAL TREATMENTS 

Electrical  treatments for body including:  Faradic; Vacuum suction; Micro Dermabrasion; Micro-current; High Frequency and  Galvanic  body treatments.

 

FACIAL ELECTRICAL TREATMENTS

Electrical  treatments for the face will be covered  including:  Faradic; Vacuum suction; Micro Dermabrasion; Micro-current; High Frequency and  Galvanic face treatments.

 

ELECTRICAL EPILATION TREATMENT

You will learn how to provide permanent hair removal (electrical epilation) to all areas of the face and body using the Short-Wave Diathermy and the 'blend' methods.

 

PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES

In this unit you will need to cover as aspects of promotions and promotional activities and give details how and who your target audience will be.

 

Opt Units:

Opt 1  -  Provide Indian Head Massage

Opt 2  -  Provide Stone Therapy

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Level 2 beauty therapy is compulsory. End of Unit tests will be on the completion of each unit.

  A good general education is essential for this demanding course
 An excellent level of English is required. You must be able to speak, read, write and understand English fluently. You may be asked to sit an entry test.

DURATION

12 days including body massage
1 day to be spent working in salon.

 

COST

£1850 Course Fees 
 A £300 deposit is required with enrolment and remaining monies paid in two instalments.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AWARDED

The Academy of Beauty Therapy offers industry-recognised qualifications and at the completion of your course and providing that you provided sufficient evidence your will be awarded the following qualifications:

 

NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy - Awarded by VTCT Examination Board

Diploma of  Body Therapy - Awarded by The Academy of Beauty Therapy

 

Both of which will enable you to obtain insurance from any recognised Insurance Company.

 

KIT REQUIRED

You will need the following items followed by individual kits for each of the modules.

For Your Lessons 

2 x A 4 Folders, 2 x pack's of 10 dividers, 200 Plastic Wallets, 200 Sticky Labels,

Pens, Pencils, Ruler, Colouring in pencils 

 
Your Uniform  Tunic of your choice, Black Trousers, Closed shoes.

This is available on Monday's between the hours of 9.00 am - 5.00 pm for the duration of 12 weeks.
